Fertility Massage
Fertility & Abdominal Massage
Gentle, hands-on support for fertility, menstrual and digestive wellbeing
Fertility and abdominal massage is a specialist hands-on therapy focusing on the abdomen, pelvis and surrounding tissues.
At The Natural Fertility Clinic, we use fertility massage as part of a wider, holistic approach to reproductive and women’s health.
People come to us for many different reasons. You may be trying to conceive naturally, preparing for fertility treatment, experiencing uncomfortable periods or digestive symptoms, or simply looking for a relaxing treatment that gives you time to reconnect with your body.
Every treatment is tailored to you, your symptoms and where you are in your menstrual or fertility journey.

Why Choose Fertility & Abdominal Massage?
Fertility journeys can become very focused on tests, dates, ovulation and treatment protocols.
Massage provides something a little different.
It’s an opportunity to slow down and focus on your whole wellbeing, rather than simply concentrating on conception.
Depending on your individual circumstances, your treatment may focus on:
- Relaxation and general wellbeing
- Abdominal and pelvic tension
- Menstrual comfort
- Digestive wellbeing
- Bloating and abdominal discomfort
- Supporting healthy bowel habits
- Relaxation of the muscles and soft tissues surrounding the abdomen and pelvis
- Stress and emotional wellbeing
- Preparing for pregnancy
- Complementary support while trying to conceive
Fertility massage is a complementary therapy and isn’t intended to diagnose or treat medical fertility conditions or replace appropriate medical investigations.
Fertility, Your Abdomen & Your Overall Health
One of the things we particularly like about abdominal massage is that it encourages us to look beyond fertility in isolation.
When you come for fertility support, we’ll also ask about areas such as your menstrual cycle, digestion, bowel habits, previous abdominal or pelvic surgery, stress and general wellbeing.
Many patients are surprised when we ask so much about their digestive health — but abdominal symptoms such as bloating, constipation and discomfort can have a significant impact on how you feel day to day.
Understanding the whole picture helps us tailor your treatment appropriately.
What Happens at Your First Appointment?
Before your first treatment, we’ll ask you to complete a detailed consultation form.
This covers your:
- Medical and fertility history
- Menstrual cycle
- Previous pregnancies, where relevant
- Fertility investigations or treatment
- Digestive health
- Previous abdominal or pelvic surgery
- Current symptoms
- Lifestyle and general wellbeing
If you have relevant blood-test, scan or fertility-investigation results, you’re welcome to bring them with you.
Your practitioner will talk everything through with you before beginning your treatment, giving you plenty of opportunity to ask questions or mention anything you’re concerned about.
What Does Fertility Massage Feel Like?
Treatment involves gentle massage techniques around the abdomen and surrounding areas, adapted to your individual needs and comfort.
Your first treatment will usually begin gently so that we can see how your body responds.
Some areas may feel tighter or more sensitive than others, and we’ll always work within a level that feels comfortable for you.
Many patients find their treatment deeply relaxing and enjoy having dedicated time to switch off.
You remain appropriately covered throughout your appointment, and we’ll explain what we’re doing as we go.
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is ideal for your appointment.
When Should Fertility Massage Be Avoided?
There are times when abdominal or fertility massage may need to be adapted, postponed or avoided.
Please let us know before your appointment if:
- You are, or think you may be, pregnant
- You are undergoing IVF or another fertility-treatment cycle
- You have recently had abdominal or pelvic surgery
- You currently have an infection, fever or feel acutely unwell
- You have unexplained abdominal or pelvic pain
- You have unusual or unexplained bleeding
- You have an intrauterine device (coil) fitted
- You have a medical condition affecting your abdomen or pelvis
Certain abdominal techniques may also be avoided at particular stages of your menstrual cycle.
Your practitioner will discuss this with you and make sure your treatment is appropriate for your circumstances.
If you have unexplained or significant symptoms, we may recommend speaking to your GP or appropriate healthcare professional before treatment.
Can I Have Fertility Massage During IVF?
Timing is particularly important if you’re undergoing IVF, ICSI or other assisted conception treatment.
Please tell us about your treatment protocol and where you are within your cycle before booking.
Abdominal massage may not be appropriate during certain stages of fertility treatment, particularly following ovarian stimulation, egg collection or embryo transfer.
We can advise you about timing and, where abdominal massage isn’t suitable, discuss whether another form of complementary support may be more appropriate.
A Treatment That’s About You
You don’t need to have a diagnosed fertility problem to book fertility massage.
Some patients come while preparing to conceive. Others have been trying for some time or are navigating fertility investigations.
And some simply want a relaxing, nurturing treatment that gives them an opportunity to focus on themselves.
Whatever brings you to us, we’ll take the time to understand your individual circumstances and tailor your treatment accordingly.
