Fertility Coaching – What is it all about
Couples facing fertility issues and having trouble conceiving will often hear the experience being referred to as a ‘journey’. There are many hills to climbs, obstacles and pitfalls to overcome and crossroads to face. And the further you travel along this challenging and tiring path, the harder and more challenging it often becomes and the more it can take its toll. It can be a lonely and isolating road for you and your partner. An alternative way of gaining additional support is through a fertility coach who can help guide you in your journey.
So much of infertility is clinical, with medical professionals focusing on the physical issues and talking about how your body is functioning, or not as it can so often feel. You focus so much on the drugs you need to take and the scans and medical appointments you must attend that your mental well-being can get forgotten. It is all too easy to simply follow what the doctors recommended with no thought to care for yourself in the process. Fertility coaching is based on the principles of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and can help you to make sense of what is often an overwhelming list of medical issues and information to take in. The process can help you to break this information down into smaller, more manageable parts, alleviating some of the stress and confusion and helping you to feel more in control and connected to your individual and personal path.
Our coach’s will have first-hand experience of infertility and is therefore well placed to show a true understanding of what you may be going through – physically, yes but more importantly emotionally. They can empathise with the associated stress and anxiety and be able to offer advice based on their own experiences where appropriate.
Wherever you are on your fertility journey, fertility coaching can help. Whether you don’t understand some test results that you have been given or need advice on diagnostic testing, our team here at The Natural Fertility Clinic can help in the following ways:
- Understanding your cycle and the signs of ovulation, helping to determine if you are ovulating and when.
- What next? You’ve been to your GP or perhaps a fertility clinic and you’re not sure what to do next.
- Helping you understand your test results.
- Helping you understand the diagnosis you have been given and what you can do to help yourself.
- Explaining the IVF process to you and what you can do to optimise your chances of success.
- Helping you find an IVF clinic that would suit your individual needs.
- Offer you impartial advice on male and female additional testing.
- Helping you to manage your stress levels through self-care and a positive mindset.
We believe that each individual’s journey is just that - individual. Therefore we ensure that all of our sessions are tailored to your specific needs, whatever it is you may need help with. We look to help you understand what’s happening to your body during your cycle and can explain in detail the condition you might have been diagnosed with as well as what you can do to help yourself. We also work with you to ensure that you have a positive path to conception. We teach you to take charge of your fertility and help to ensure that you avoid delays in your treatment. Most importantly we will help you feel confident, empowered and calm about the journey ahead.
